Besides my love for making music, I enjoy helping others through facilitating personal growth workshops and explorations of creativity. While getting my M.S. in Mental Health Counseling at St. John Fisher College, I discovered more about the healing power of expressing one's creativity. I also gained experience leading workshops; for example, I taught a group of student nurses about Mindfulness. I now offer workshops on themes of creativity and self-care to the community. I am also available for private coaching in songwriting, performance and creativity empowerment.

Upcoming Classes

During this program, I share my process of songwriting and encourage participants to share their experiences with writing as well. I also lead the group in two simple songwriting exercises designed to demystify the songwriting process. By the end of this workshop, attendees understand more about the songwriting process and feel confident that they can write their own songs.

Existential Poetry Exploration

Creativity Empowerment

Many great poems have existential themes because these themes are universal. We all wonder, "How do we make meaning in our lives?" In this class we explore existential poetry and write our own. This class is for anyone who wishes to explore a fresh way of expressing him/herself through poetry and anyone interested in learning more about how the words 'existential' and 'poetry' can intersect.

In this class we explore the process of creativity - how it works for us, what challenges we face, and practical steps we can take to increase our own levels of creativity. Topics include mindfulness and creativity, resistance and creativity, and self-compassion and creativity. This is a discussion based experiential class. We also dig into excerpts of several classic works of literature dealing with this topic, including Letters to a Young Poet by Rilke and The Poet by Ralph Waldo Emerson.

Self-Compassion Workshop

Research shows being kind to yourself is an important ingredient in experiencing your life as fulfilling and happy! But so many of us are hard on ourselves without even realizing what we're doing. This workshop is informative - I go over the basics of what the research says - and then practical - we do group activities to practice 'self-compassion.'

Introduction to Mindfulness

Mindfulness has become a hot topic, but what is it, really, and how do you practice it? This class will introduce participants to mindfulness with information regarding what it is and why it's considered helpful, including what research has found regarding the benefits of a mindfulness practice. Then attendees will participate in several exercises to familiarize them with how to practice mindfulness in daily life.
